Abdulrazak Gurnah, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, and Tony Tagoe are the jury for the Best of the Caine Prize, announced on Thursday, September 4, 2025

The Caine Prize for African Writing is an annual literary award that recognizes excellence in African storytelling. Presented for the best short story published in English by an African writer, it is named after former Booker Prize management committee chairman Sir Michael Caine. Since its inception in 2000, it has recognised over 120 talented authors through its shortlist, winners, annual award, and £10,000 prize purse.
